Community Events
Many are the educational events in which AHAM participates throughout the year.  These include, Cat in the Hat of Ready 4 Reading and
Opening Doors, initiative of Graduate Greenville.
Ready 4 Reading formerly known as Lapsits for Early Literacy is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission “guides underserved parents and
caregivers of primarily newborns through 48 month olds to create a love of books, develop readiness for reading, and provide children's
books in homes.”
On September 10,2011, AHAM will held the 13th Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival at the McAlister
Square in Greenville, SC. This festival was full of color with a parade of nations and regional dresses,
folklore dances, tango, salsa, and food! The event was open to the public and the entire family for
free!
Each year, from mid-September through mid-October, AHAM continues participating in this celebration with organizations such as the
USC-Upstate, the Greenville Library System, and Furman University.

In October 1998, AHAM began celebrating the Hispanic Heritage Month at the Greer-Jean M. Smith Public Library by showcasing folkloric
dresses, traditional food  and artistic displays . In 1999 we started collaborating with Furman University with a Latin Music presentation
and Dessert Reception,  AHAM  members  bring regional desserts and savory dishes to share. Members also perform with dances and
artistic presentations from various Latin American countries.
