GALA EVENT
On Saturday, October 17, 2009, AHAM celebrated its 12th Annual International Gala. This was a fundraising event for AHAM’s scholarship
program. The scholarships will be awarded in May 2010 to deserving Hispanic students. Many of our Hispanic students in the Upstate
have realized their dreams of going to college with our scholarship program. Ours is the only private program of its kind in Upstate South
Carolina that provides scholarships to Hispanic students. The evening was exquisite and all attendees had only wonderful words to
describe the Gala. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank all attendees because once again they demonstrated that our
community cares and continues supporting AHAM and its noble cause.
The silent auction was a success since attendees purchased all the articles donated by AHAM members and local businesses! During the
Gala, we recognized those deserving to receive our Yellow Rose Award in the following categories:
AHAM Member of the Years: Nivia de Toothman. Once again, Nivia demonstrated to be an AHAM member that goes above and beyond the
call of duty. Nivia deserves this recognition for all she has done for AHAM and for the love she has for the Association!
Outstanding Member of the Community: Alfred Middleton. Alfred deserves this recognition for everything that he has done not only for
the Hispanic community but also for AHAM by serving as an auditor of the scholarship award process from the beginning to its completion.
Outstanding Organization of the Community: Michelin N.A. Michelin has done so much not just for AHAM but for the entire Upstate minority
community, especially with the new business development program for minorities’ small businesses.
For now I can only wish that you have a good time for the remainder of the year and recommend that you save the date on October 16,
2010, for our 13th International Gala!
