Education has been at the forefront of AHAM’s efforts since its foundation. The organization believes that education is the key component
in breaking down barriers, opening opportunities for success, and improving the lives of both the Hispanic youth and the overall
communities of the Upstate of South Carolina.
Since 1999, AHAM has been working diligently each year to raise funds in order to make a young Hispanic’s dream of going to college a
reality. The efforts and hard work have slowly paid off. While the first scholarship awarded in 1999 was only one of $1,000, in 2008 the
amount increased to $26,000. AHAM awarded the 2008 scholarships in May 2008, at the Hughes Main Library in Greenville, SC. Since 1999, a
total of $88,300 have been awarded to exceptional Hispanic high school seniors from Upstate SC who are interested in furthering their
education and their future.
Applicants must be Hispanic High School Seniors attending a
college the fall semester after graduating.
